Denise Petrizzi, PNP
Denise graduated Niagara University BSN, RN then graduated Stony Brook University MSN, PNP. She worked on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at North Shore University Hospital from 1982 to 1991. She then went to work in Pediatric Neurology at North Shore University Hospital from 1992 through 2004. Denise started with The Chiari Institute in 2005 and has been here ever since. She received "Hero of the Year 2007" from Wishes and Rainbows and has coordinated multiple NIH research studies, 1995-2002. Her memberships include: National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners (NAPNAP) both national & local, Sigma Theta Tau and the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN).
Jong Ok Yun, NP-C
Jong Ok Yun, RN, BSN, MSN, NP-C was born and raised in Korea and came to America in 1977. She started work as a nurse in 1993. Her clinical background is in the areas of women’s health; mother/baby, ante-partum high risk and labor and delivery. Jong Ok has worked in different hospitals including: Elmhurst, NYU Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and Mount Sinai Hospital. Jong Ok worked at NSUH hospital for almost 5 years and in 2006 went on to Mt. Sinai Hospital in a position as clinical nurse manager at the mother/baby unit for almost 2 years. She went back to school and completed her MSN and NP programs in family health from Molloy College and obtained her FNP certification from AANP (American Academy of Nurse Practitioners), Now she has come back to NSUH and is very happy to be back. Everyone welcomed her with open arms at The Chiari Institute.
Jong Ok enjoys listening to classical music and during her leisure time she tries to fast walk for at least 2 hours on the weekends. Her goal is to learn how to play golf in the near future. She started TCI in May 2003.
June Taylor, RN, MSN, ANP-C
Puttachat "June" Taylor, RN, MSN, ANP-C received her associate degree in nursing form LaGuardia Community College. She then graduated summa cum laude from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing and received her Master degree in adult nurse practitioner also from Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing. She is certified as an adult nurse practitioner by American Nurse Credentialing Center.
Her family calls her June so this name remains with her. She said a person from her country, Thailand always has a nickname that is not usually related to the first name. Before joining The Chiari Institute, June worked as a registered nurse for ten years in various settings including psychiatry, medicine, telemetry, peritoneal dialysis and the emergency department. She then worked as a nurse practitioner at a substance abuse services for two and a half years.
Lisa Leontis, RN, ANP-C
Mrs. Leontis graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1996 from Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY. She then worked at NYU Medical Center as an RN on a neurosurgical unit from 1996-2001. She graduated from NYU in 2001 with a Master's degree in advanced practice nursing as an adult nurse practitioner. Following receipt of her Master's degree, she worked as an Adult NP from 2001-2003 in a private practice endocrinology office. Lisa started at TCI in January 2004.
Lisa is a member of the American Association of Neuroscience nursing and Sigma Theta Tau. She is certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse Credentialing Center.
Kathleen Murtagh, RN
Kathy graduated with an Associate degree in Nursing from the Catholic Medical Center School of Nursing in Jamaica, NY, 1987. She then worked in St. Mary's Emergency Dept.1987 through 1989 as an RN/staff nurse. She did private practice nursing from 1989 through 1995 as RN/Manager and then at Columbia Presbyterian Multi-specialty Practice as an RN/Administrator from 1995 - 1998. She joined Cor Care a Cardiac facility as RN/Director of Operations from 1998 through 2003. She has attended Adelphi University's, RN/NP Step Ahead Program, Garden City, NY - 88 credits. She started at TCI in May 2003.
